From 24th – 25th September 2008, Lufthansa Consulting will host its second specialist conference for the aviation industry. After the successful first event for airports from Central and Eastern Europe in 2007 the focus this time will be on regional airports from Russia and the CIS countries. Selected executives from airports, investors and banks will discuss the development of regional airports in this area and exchange views on specific challenges and requirements. In St. Petersburg the speech and workshop program will be held in Russian and English. The conference will focus, in particular, on the challenges and requirements facing regional airports in their business development.

The Russian aviation industry has shown dramatic changes in the recent years. Despite serious constraints and a volatile economy in the outside world, the Russian market has firmly followed the steep course to recovery since the late 90s. Due to increased domestic buying power, the region is becoming increasingly attractive for the international business community. However, the full potential has not yet been achieved and much work still needs to be done. These and other current pressing issues will provide plenty of material for a lively discussion amongst the participants.

As guest speaker the management consulting company has been able to win Alexey Vasilchenko, CEO of Novaport, one of the region’s most active investors in the airport business. He will present success factors of the regional airports from an investor’s perspective.

Lufthansa Consulting experts will round off the program with various, subject-specific presentations including recent industry trends. They will also outline the company’s expertise and product portfolio in the airport services area. In addition, the consultants will answer questions on current issues facing individual participants. Interactive workshops on familiar topics such as Airport Marketing, Infrastructure Development, Revenue Enhancement, Cargo and Security will allow participants to benefit greatly from the conference.

Following the very positive feedback from the first specialist conference in 2007 Lufthansa Consulting is confident that this event will be equally successful. Last year’s guests were inspired by the event concept: “It was a great event and brought together the airports from the region,” one investor said.
