New terminal for Tolmachevo?
Russian company Novaport is considering building a new airport terminal at Novosibirsk's Tolmachevo Airport, says the company's chairman Roman Trotsenko.
Trotsenko says that the terminal would cost US$200 million and construction would start between March and May 2009.
Novaport is seeking political support with local and state authorities and that a final decision on going ahead with the project depends on this support.
Tolmachevo Airport saw more than 1.6 million passengers pass through its facilities during the last nine months (January to September 2008) with 130,300 connecting passengers. This makes it the biggest transit hub beyond the Urals on routes between Russia and Europe.
Novaport holds a 38% interest in Tolmachevo Airport and is a subsidiary of AEON Corporation, a large Russian conglomerate.
